On July 5, BYD announced that it would set up a large-scale production base complex composed of three factories in Camaçari with the government of the Brazilian state of Ija, with a total investment of R $3 billion (about RMB 4.482 billion). It is planned to put into production in the second half of 2024, and is expected to create more than 5000 jobs for the local people.

It is reported that the complex of BYD's production base in Brazil will be composed of a production plant mainly engaged in the production of electric buses and truck chassis, a production plant of new energy passenger vehicles, and a processing plant specializing in Lithium iron phosphate battery materials. Among them, the new energy passenger vehicle production line covers pure electric and plug-in hybrid models, with a planned annual production capacity of 150000 vehicles.

Building a large-scale production base complex in Brazil is an important measure for BYD's development in the American market, which will help accelerate the popularization of new energy vehicles in the local area, "said Li Ke, Executive Vice President and President of BYD Americas.

Even before the new factory settled in Brazil, BYD had already entered the Brazilian market with five new energy passenger cars, namely the Tang EV, Han EV, Yuan PLUS EV, Song PLUS DM-i, and Dolphin. Meanwhile, BYD has established 24 offline dealerships in Brazil in the passenger car industry, and is expected to establish 100 stores by the end of this year.
